Dave’s Hot Chicken is heading to the U.K. and Ireland for the first time.

The Los Angeles-based fast-casual chain on Monday announced a 60-unit franchise agreement with Azzurri Group to bring the brand to both the United Kingdom and Ireland. The first unit is scheduled to open in London in the first quarter next year.

The Azzurri Group is known for operating two full-service brands, the Italian concepts Zizzi and ASK Italian, as well as the quick-service concept Coco di Mama, and the Irish fast-casual Mexican brand Boojum. In all, Azzurri operates more than 230 restaurants and stores.

Steve Holmes, CEO of Azzurri Group, said he was blown away by Dave’s Hot Chicken, saying it was some of the most “craveable and delicious food we’ve ever had.

“We’re excited to bring this incredible brand to the U.K. and to be their partner in this ambitious roll-out,” he said.

For Dave’s, which recently passed the 200-unit mark and expects to reach 275 open by the end of the year, it’s a big step into international development. The chain has five units in Canada and six in the Middle East. Officials say there has also been interest from franchisees in South Korea.

Dave’s is known for its fried chicken tenders and sandwiches with varying spice levels, from no spice to the Reaper, for which guests must sign a waiver.
