Ghost kitchen provider Zuul raised $9 million to expand in New York City, the company announced Thursday.

Zuul currently operates out of a single location in Manhattan, providing kitchen space and handling delivery orders for restaurant partners that include Sweetgreen and Junzi.

The new funding will help it expand “across high demand areas of the five boroughs,” Zuul said in a statement. The source of the funds was not revealed.

There is already a waiting list of brands that have signed on for future locations, said Sean Fitzgibbons, co-founder and chief brand officer.

Ghost kitchens have been on the rise in recent years and have gained further traction during the pandemic by offering operators a revenue stream while dining rooms are closed or limited.
