Late-summer menu rollouts at Burgerville, Honeygrow and Fazoli's
By Patricia Cobe on Aug. 05, 2024Summer is still in full swing, and for several restaurant chains, that means the timing is right to refresh the menu with more seasonal items. But other operators are already thinking ahead to fall, introducing flavors and dishes that are more in sync with late September. Here’s a roundup of what’s trending on menus now.
Burgerville
A menu spotlighting locally sourced, seasonal ingredients is on offer at Burgerville. The lineup includes three items featuring Oregon Marionberries, a variety of blackberry bred and grown in Oregon. There’s an Oregon Marionberry Sundae and Shake, both made with local Umpqua Dairy Ice Cream or Cosmic Bliss Plant-Based Ice Cream, as well as Marionberry Lemonade. Gluten-free tempura-battered Fried Green Beans also join the menu.
Honeygrow
Honeygrow is promoting a “cold noodle salad for hot summer days” with its late summer launch of three salads. Only one contains noodles—the Cold Sesame Noodle Salad—a toss of egg white noodles, roasted shrimp, shredded green cabbage, carrots, edamame, scallions, cucumbers, jalapenos, pineapple, crispy onions and cilantro with Asian sesame dressing. There’s also a Loaded Greek Salad enhanced with fresh tzatziki, chick peas and chicken, and a Steakhouse Chopped Salad with creamy ranch dressing.
Fazoli’s
Two new baked manicotti dishes debuted at Fazoli’s, a preview of comforting, more-filling fall food. Three Meat Manicotti is layered with classic meat sauce, bacon, Italian sausage and melted cheeses. Chicken Alfredo Manicotti combines manicotti with Alfredo sauce, roasted chicken, Parmesan-roasted broccoli and a trio of melted cheeses, all topped with Parmesan panko breadcrumbs for a little crunch. Both are on the menu through Sept. 9.
Tocaya
Four tortas star on the menu at Tocaya, both on their own and in combo meals. The Chicken Torta Combo features chicken tinga, guacamole, queso fresco, romaine, vegan chipotle crema and tomatillo salsa. The Birria Torta Combo offers slow-cooked beef with the same toppings, while the Potato Torta Combo showcases purple Peruvian potatoes. There's also a Shrimp Torta with grilled shrimp. The Combos are all served with a side and an agua fresca.
IHOP
IHOP’s latest value offer is designed to help families during the back-to-school rush, when supplies and clothes take a toll on the budget. So the family-dining chain is bringing back All You Can Eat Pancakes through Sept. 15. With any Breakfast Combo, customers can get unlimited short stacks of buttermilk pancakes. Also new is IHOP’s August Pancake of the Month—Lemon Oreo. It’s a stack of four buttermilk pancakes filled and topped with lemon Oreo cookie pieces, creamy cheesecake mousse and whipped topping.
Walk-Ons Sports Bistreaux
Former NFL quarterback Drew Brees, co-owner of Walk-Ons Sports Bistreaux, is hosting the NOLA Pickle Fest pickleball tournament, running Wednesday-Sunday. To tie into the tournament, Walk-Ons is highlighting two pickle-themed items on its menu: Crispy Fried Pickles and Slider Sensations. For the former, hand-battered pickles are fried to a golden crunch and served with the chain’s signature dipping sauce. The Slider Sensations feature mini-burgers topped with fresh, tangy pickles.
Tim Hortons
New flavors and a summer happy hour make news at Tim Horton’s. Cocoa Caramel Crunch Iced Capp frozen coffee, Butter Pecan Cold Brew and Mango Lemonade are the three newcomers, while Strawberry Lemonade, Solar Splash TimsBoost (a blend of mango and Red Bull Amber Edition) and Berry Cherry Refresher round out the summer selection. Through Thursday, Tim’s is offering 50% off all drinks after 2 p.m.
Pastrami Queen
Plant-based pastrami is now available through a partnership with NYC’s Pastrami Queen and Chunk Foods. The restaurant’s location in Moynihan Food Hall in Penn Station is serving “the Prince powered by Chunk,” a plant-based slab seasoned and prepared like pastrami and piled on rye bread with deli mustard, sided by a pickle.
Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que
Four “Bold & Stacked” items join the menu at Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que. On offer are the Smokey Joe Sandwich with brisket and cheddar cheese; the Shrimp Po’ Boy topped with pico de gallo and comeback sauce; the Texas Cheesesteak with smoked brisket; and the Swicy Burger with pepperjack cheese, a whole fried jalapeno, honey and comeback sauce. Rounding out the menu are Loaded Chopped Brisket Fries, Southwest Brisket Chopped Salad, Tri Tip Wedge Salad and Not Your Mama’s Chicken Caesar Salad made with buttermilk-fried chicken tossed in Parmesan-garlic butter.
Hopdoddy
Atlanta-area locations of Hopdoddy are rolling out a $15 cheeseburger lunch combo available Monday through Friday. The combo features a Classic Burger with Cheese, one of three new side options (Truffle Potato Chips, Chipotle Sweet Potato Salad or Kale Krunch Salad) and a soft drink or iced tea. For another $2, guests can upgrade to a 12-ounce beer.
Carvel
Pumpkin is flavoring the ice cream lineup at Carvel even though we’re still in August. Beginning Aug. 15, fans can order Pumpkin Cheesecake Soft Serve, Pumpkin Cheesecake Scooped and a Shake, Sundae, Flying Saucer ice cream sandwich and Ice Cream Pop all with a pumpkin cheesecake flavor profile. They are available for a limited time while supplies last.
Smoothie King
Smoothie King is also getting an early start on pumpkin season, introducing five LTOs on Aug. 20 for Healthy Rewards members and Aug. 27 for the public.
