Thanks to a 2018 Supreme Court decision that allowed states to make their own gambling laws, sports betting has expanded beyond the walls of casinos to become more ingrained in everyday American life. Sports bars have been getting in on the action for years by marketing themselves as a place to both view sports and bet on them. But the Maryland-based Greene Turtle chain has gone a step further, opening a pair of massive two-story restaurants with on-site sportsbooks complete with live tellers. The development helped the 36-unit chain land a $6 million investment from billionaire Bill Ackman’s Table Management, which cited the sportsbooks as an area of opportunity.
